Most people don't want to improve- they want to make excuses about why they haven't.
The plain and dirty truth of human beings is that most of us are lazy, unfocused, misdirected and worst- we are defensive if someone points those things out.
In this email, I am going to challenge you to prove that you can rise above those things- and, I'm going to tell you how.
This isn't some guru bullshit about waking up 20 minutes before you go to bed to drink 15 gallons of water before meditating and logging 57 pages in your "gratitude journal" before heading off to your daily biohacking session in order to get the "mindset upgrade" to save another $3.27 cents that day.
Nah.
I want to talk about stuff that works- stuff that works for all people, all over- without the hippie, jamband music festival guy with long hair and a suit jacket but no socks on to prove to you he's hip and with it even though he can teach you how to make a billion dollars through his patented new Iron Condor options trading coaching program vibes.
It's all simple stuff.
When I was a personal trainer, I realized that people, if you give them a single inch of wiggle room, will take that to mean: no matter what I do- this won't work for me.
Here's what I mean:
You give a slim guy a prescribed diet to gain weight.
Slowly, intelligently, over time, by finding what his maintenance calories are, and gradually adding to that until you see a reasonable weight gain curve by comparing the data of exactly what he ate each week side by side with his increase in muscle mass.
Pretty straightforward.
BUT-
He tells you, based on nothing, simply a self- diagnosis, that he has a high metabolism, and therefore, is, what the weightlifting community would label a dreaded "hard-gainer."
This means that he, this amazing and totally dedicated jedi of the gym, this fucking Miyagi of macros- he is damned and doomed from the beginning.
Because he is at a disadvantage to ALL THESE OTHER PEOPLE, and therefore, as he haphazardly applies your diet (by following almost none of the instructions that, by science, WILL function), he has already made up his mind...
"This will not work for me."
You can replace high metabolism with "thyroid problem" for the fat crowd.
You can replace personal trainer with financial advisor, brand consultant, whatever.
MOST PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO IMPROVE.
They just want to tell you why shit won't work for them, largely because they're pitiful, wretched adherents of today's victim culture, which seems like one big dick-measuring contest of who has the deck stacked against them the most.
Social anxiety. Depression. Gluten allergies. Borderline personality disorder. Childhood trauma. Adulthood trauma. Fibromyalgia. Poverty. Systemic racism. Systemic ageism. Systemic ableism. Systemic Systemicism.
Now, look.
I'm not saying none of these thing are real. (Some of them aren't, sorry.)
I'm saying that none of them are worth clinging to for dear life as an anchor around your neck to hold and show the world: "this is why I haven't done shit with my life."
"This is why I'm broke."
"This is why I'm a fuck-up."
Wrong.
You're a broke fuck-up because you haven't made a conscious and powerful decision to take the game in hand, and to overcome the motherfucking odds in order to have the underdog story of a lifetime.
Or, because you haven't realized that you've been in love with being a victim for so long, the idea of being a victor no longer appeals to you.
Winning is a habit.
Habits can be set.
They are all set the same way, and I'm gonna break it down for you the simplest way I know:
1- Take the time to decide, clearly, earnestly, honestly, in your mind, who it is you want to be in life.
2- Identify the steps that will be needed in order to become that person- these must be clear.
In other words, I can't simply say "make more money," I have to say, "create another stream of revenue by using my photography skills and learn how to market them in order to make another $500 a month."
I can't say "be more fit." I have to say, "starting today, I will begin a daily fitness regimen that I choose and stick with, and I will adhere to it combined with a nutrition plan every day as though my fucking life depended on it- because I know that the life I desire to live DOES depend on it.
3- After making these basic plans, keep them somewhere visible. All over your fucking house. Re-write them every morning and night in your journal.
Our life goes where our mind resides- we must be completely immersed in these goals. They must be our obsession.
Our altar, and the idol that rests on it.
Our future self that we wish to become is our godhead, and every action must be in devotion toward that ideal.
If we do these three things- we will succeed. We will become wealthy. We will become fit, or a good public speaker, or run our own business, or whatever it is that we have mapped out to become.
I am going to ask you to take part in a 30 day challenge with me:
Beginning today, September 1st, 2020, I want you to do the following-
-Set a goal for an amount of money you WILL make in addition to your current revenue stream.
This could be extra hours, a side hustle, or finding a way to take ANY of your skills and turn them into extra revenue.
The amount of money you set will be up to you- I am going to set my number at $2,000.
Remember- this must be money that is IN ADDITION to my normal income.
I will achieve the number, because there are no excuses now that I've told you, and, further, I'll tell you how I achieved it at the end of the month.
-Second, I want you to wake up just 30 minutes earlier than normal (I know I said I wouldn't hit you with any guru shit, this isn't to use the time to align your chakras).
I want you to use that 30 minutes simply to think about the goal you've set and write down any ideas you have toward attaining it-
you can also use this time to write down and envision any other goals you have for yourself and map them out, creating a list that's going to become your blueprint for who it is you want to be in the future.
Lastly, all month, I want you to consciously avoid making any excuses.
If you hear yourself making one, calmly reassess, adjust, and reset- you're no longer an "excuse" person.
At the end of the month, when you hit your number, I want you to email me and tell me how you did, and how you did it.
That money?
I want you to spend it. Spend it on whatever the hell you want to.
That's just a reward for the challenge- you've created this money for yourself in order to have more freedom. Take your woman out. Take yourself out. Go have caviar and cigars- whatever.
After this month, we will revisit this concept, and talk a little bit about how we can leverage this money in the future, because this isn't a "one and done."
It's about changing your approach to life...for life.
Anyone who has the sand for it, let's go.
Hit me up with an email if you plan to do this with me.
